1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Metrestick.ca and related tools and services (the "Service"), operated by Fractal SaaS Inc. ("Metrestick", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be the age of majority in your province or territory and able to form a binding contract. The Service is intended for use in Canada and provides information specific to Canadian residents.
3. What the Service is
Metrestick provides educational, informational personal-finance benchmarking and calculators built on publicly available Canadian government data (e.g., the Canada Revenue Agency and Statistics Canada). It helps you see where you stand and explore "what-if" scenarios.
4. Not financial, tax, or legal advice — important
The Service is for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not, and must not be relied on as, financial, investment, tax, accounting, mortgage, retirement, or legal advice, and does not constitute a recommendation to take or refrain from any action. Metrestick is not a registered adviser, dealer, broker, planner, or tax preparer. All outputs are estimates and illustrations based on the data and assumptions described on each page, and your individual circumstances will differ. Before making any financial decision, consult a qualified, licensed professional. You are solely responsible for decisions you make.
5. Data, estimates & accuracy
- Benchmarks and calculations draw on third-party official sources and interpolation/modelling; they may be incomplete, out of date, or imprecise, and tax/benefit rules and figures change.
- We make no warranty that any number, percentile, projection, or estimate is accurate, current, or applicable to you.
- Source data is used under the Statistics Canada Open Licence and the Open Government Licence – Canada; Metrestick is not endorsed by or affiliated with Statistics Canada, the CRA, or the Government of Canada.
6. Accounts
If you create an account: you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your access secure; you must not share or misuse credentials; and you may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or for security or legal reasons.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service unlawfully or for anything misleading or harmful; scrape, harvest, or bulk-download content except as expressly permitted; overload, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; reverse engineer or misuse any API or MCP endpoint beyond its documented terms and rate limits; remove proprietary notices; or use the Service to provide a competing data product without permission.
8. Intellectual property
The Service's design, brand, text, code, and original compilations are owned by Metrestick or its licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial purposes. Underlying government data remains subject to its own open licences (Section 5). Content you submit remains yours; you grant us a licence to use it as needed to operate the Service.
9. Affiliate relationships & third-party links
The Service contains affiliate links and links to third-party sites and products (e.g., financial institutions). We may earn a commission if you sign up through an affiliate link, at no extra cost to you; see our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites, products, or services, and inclusion of a link is not an endorsement.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Metrestick and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, data, or financial loss, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or reliance on its content. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 or the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Metrestick and its operators from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms.
13. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, and may update these Terms. Material changes take effect when posted with a new "Last updated" date (and, where required, with notice). Continued use after changes means you accept them.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario, except where mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
15. Miscellaneous
If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms (with the Privacy Policy and any posted notices) are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
